Thanks Dean of Meze 119

Dear Dean,

My friends and I seriously enjoyed your company and your delicious food the other night.  I swear if I ever win that lottery thing, I promise to have you and your healthy culinary creations over at least once a month!  You impress me with your kindness, your knowledge, sense of humor and you are a lucky many to have accomplished so much at such a young age.                                                                                                          Thank you so much!                                                             Charlotte

Dean Hershkowitz arrived at my house right on time Friday night to deliver the prize of a dinner for four.  I assumed he would stop in for a couple minutes, tolerate my photo taking, unload the grub and get back to work.  He's a busy guy right?!?  And that would have been totally fine because I'm just tickled pink that were are getting a nice dinner at no cost and I quickly find out that he is dealing with a painful and swollen spider bite on one finger.  After a few minutes I came to the very pleasant realization that he was staying for a while as he asked where the plates and such were.  He made himself right at home and while we chit chatted he actually started washing a bowl from the dishwasher that he needed for the place setting.  At this point I'm already having an out of body reaction and thinking to myself that I should've run that load earlier in the day... here I was drinking a glass of wine,  half listening to the tv and Matt talking with friends in the living room wondering if this like the "other side" live... and here Dean is scrubbing my nasty bowls and trying to navigate his way through my tiny one-person-at-a-time kitchen!










We started with this cream of potato soup+ celery root.  It had lots of flavor and we got just enough to wake our tastebuds up.
















If all salads were this good, I might consider being a vegetarian.  It had mushrooms, carrots, peppers and super yummy mozzarella bites.















The only thing I requested for our meal was the acorn squash stuffed with couscous, chick peas and raisins because it is one of my favorite dishes that Meze offers.  We also had baguettes with tapenade and green beans.





Here's our friends Brian and Meghan!  Someone is this photo may not have been the type to order such vegetarian dishes that stray from the usual meat and potatoes style of dining.... but in the end, was very impressed with our healthy four course meal!







Here's Matt giving the thumbs up.  He's really has been more open minded with food the past couple years too.  (Might have something to do with me)














The final serving was baby eggplants stuffed with capers, olives and meat crumbles (not real meat but you'd never know).  These little guys were much more flavorful than the egg plants I'm accustomed to and the yellow rice with marinara was perfect.  










Our bellies and tastebuds are very grateful for Meze 119!!!
